  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled & julienned (1 tablespoon packed)
  • 2 green onions, white & green parts separated

Seasonings & Flavor Boosters

  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or lime juice)
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional but recommended)
  • 0.25 cup water

How to Make Vietnamese Caramel Ginger Chicken Easy Dinner Recipe

  • Make the quick caramel base: In a cold 12-inch skillet add brown sugar + 1 tablespoon water. Cook over medium 3–4 min until it smells like toffee and turns amber.
  • Seal the chicken: Immediately stir in oil, garlic, ginger, white onion parts. Add chicken in single layer; sear 3 min without stirring.
  • Simmer in sauce: Flip chicken, pour in soy, vinegar, sriracha, remaining water. Cover, reduce heat to low 15 min until chicken is 175 °F and sauce is thick.
  • Finish & serve: Remove lid, crank heat 1 min to glaze. Sprinkle green tops + sesame. Serve over rice.
