Equipment

  • large oven-safe skillet

Ingredients

SALMON

  • 4 filets salmon (6 oz each)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
  • ¼ teaspoon blackening seasoning (optional)

SAUCE

  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup honey
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat salmon dry, then season with salt, pepper, paprika and blackening seasoning (if using). Set aside.
  • Adjust oven rack to middle position, then preheat broiler to prevent burning sauce.
  • Add butter and oil to a large, oven-safe skillet over MED-HIGH heat. Once butter is melted, add garlic, water, soy sauce, sriracha, honey and lemon juice and cook for 30 seconds, until sauce is heated through.
  • Add salmon, skin side down (if using salmon with skin), and cook for 3 minutes, basting frequently with sauce from the pan.
  • Broil salmon for 5-6 minutes, basting with sauce once during broil, until caramelized and cooked to desired doneness.
  • Garnish with minced parsley if desired.

Notes

If you'd prefer, you can pan sear the salmon first and then add the sauce ingredients. A couple of readers have reported a watery sauce, which could be improved by reducing the water or simmering the sauce before adding the salmon.
