Ingredients
  

Pastry and Filling

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar plus more for dusting
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 each egg for egg wash
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • Oil for frying

Cooking Instructions

  • Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into equal-sized rounds or squares.
  • Brush with egg wash and fry in hot oil (350°F) until golden, 1–2 minutes per side.
  • Drain on paper towels and let cool.
  • Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth and fluffy.
  • Slice strawberries and set aside.
  • Spread filling on one piece of pastry, top with strawberries, and sandwich with another piece.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

Notes

Fry in small batches to keep oil hot and pastry crisp. Bake instead of fry for a lighter version (400°F for 12–15 min). Use room temp cream cheese for best texture. Assemble just before serving to keep pastry crisp.
