Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 1 cup Minced Pork Substitution: Ground chicken or turkey
  • ½ cup Prawns Substitution: Diced tofu
  • 1 medium Carrot Substitution: Grated zucchini
  • 1 medium Onion Substitution: Shallots
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic preferred
  • 1 cup Green Beans Substitution: Bell pepper or snap peas
  • 1 cup White Cabbage Substitution: Napa cabbage or spinach

Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Substitution: Tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce Substitution: Vegetarian oyster sauce
  • ½ teaspoon White Pepper Substitution: Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 large Egg (beaten) Substitution: Flaxseed meal mixed with water

Wrapping and Frying

  • 1 pack Lumpia Wrappers Substitution: Spring roll or egg roll wrappers
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil Substitution: Canola or peanut oil

Dipping

  • 1 cup Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Spiced Vinegar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, gently combine minced pork, prawns, grated carrot, onion, garlic, green beans, and white cabbage.
  • Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, white pepper, and the beaten egg. Mix until well coated.
  • Take a lumpia wrapper, spoon about 2 tablespoons of the filling at one edge, fold the sides inward, and roll tightly.
  • Heat vegetable oil to 170°C (340°F). Fry the lumpia in small batches for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with sweet chili sauce or spiced vinegar.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lime for added brightness.
